Honorary Consulate presents an Irish sustainable-agriculture proposal ahead of its Autumn 2026 mission to Côte d’Ivoire : London | July 2026
The Honorary Consulate of Côte d’Ivoire in Ireland undertook a strategic mission to the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in London in July 2026, as preparations intensify for an official autumn mission focused on SMART agriculture, environmental innovation and sustainable rural development.
During the visit, His Excellency Dr.Daithí Ó Murchú, Honorary Consul of Côte d’Ivoire to Ireland, formally introduced Mr Shane Walsh, founder and CEO of Fast Grow Fertiliser, to Her Excellency Mrs Amani Sara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Côte d’Ivoire to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
The meeting provided an important diplomatic platform through which Mr. Walsh presented an exploratory project proposal for Côte d’Ivoire. The proposal examines how Irish expertise in natural fertilisers, soil improvement and sustainable agricultural production could contribute to the country’s continuing transition towards smarter, more productive and environmentally responsible agriculture.
Based in County Kilkenny, Fast Grow Fertiliser has developed natural fertiliser products combining locally sourced materials, including seaweed and poultry manure. The company manages the sourcing, blending, treatment and production of its materials at its own facility, creating an Irish-developed model with potential relevance to soil health, crop productivity and environmentally sustainable, SMART and Green farming.
The discussions in London represented the next stage in building a practical agricultural bridge between Ireland and Côte d’Ivoire. The proposed cooperation will now be further developed in preparation for the Honorary Consulate’s Autumn 2026 mission to Côte d’Ivoire, during which meetings with government institutions, scientific authorities, agricultural stakeholders and prospective implementation partners are envisaged.
The initiative is designed to support the ambitions of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan 2026–2030, which places particular emphasis on modernising agriculture, increasing agricultural productivity, developing value chains, encouraging strategic private-sector investment and advancing the country’s environmental and ecological transition.
His Excellency Dr Daithí Ó Murchú stated that the initiative reflects the Honorary Consulate’s commitment to moving beyond conventional diplomacy:
“Our objective is to transform diplomatic relationships into practical partnerships. Ireland possesses considerable agricultural knowledge, scientific expertise and green innovation. Côte d’Ivoire possesses extraordinary agricultural potential, ambition and opportunity. By bringing these strengths together, we can develop solutions that are sustainable, scalable and firmly aligned with Côte d’Ivoire’s national priorities.”
The London meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to partnership, evidence-based development and responsible innovation. It also established a clear direction for the autumn mission: to continue advancing smart agriculture while contributing meaningfully to the green and sustainable-development agenda of Côte d’Ivoire.
